TGIF Throw back!

Looking at old blogs and things last week got me thinking about ‘blogging’ things I used to do and I saw this! The TGIF Look Back was a meme idea, ideally it just took a few minutes to jot down and share how your week had been. For old times sake, this is how my week stacked up – how was yours?

It just takes a few minutes: to play along, just answer the following questions with some Friday feeling…or come up with your own examples for the F R I D A Y letters!

FUNNY – What made you laugh this week?

READING – What were you reading this week?

INSPIRED – What inspired you this week?

DREAM – What were you dreaming about this week?

ANGEL – Who was your angel of the week?

YUCK – What made you go ‘ewwww’ this week?

My TGIF Look Back…

FUNNY – I watched The Hitman’s Bodyguard this week and was crying laughing at parts of it – I love Ryan Reynolds (esp. Deadpool) and his character in this was like a slightly toned down, smart-talking, kick-ass Deadpool – replacing the red stretchy suit with a natty grey one. If you like him in that, and Samuel L. Jackson in a role with shades of his Marvel counterpart, you’ll probably enjoy this.

READING – Currently reading my first David Estes book Slip and enjoying the shades of Philip K Dick that the first half of the novel has had…

INSPIRED – Maybe it’s the new year ‘blow out the cobwebs’ feeling I’ve been inspired by this week, but getting my latest book finished and coming fresh into the new year is leaving me in a generally writer-y mood! 🙂

DREAM – Oh – an absolutely crazy one last night about trying to get back to a friend’s wedding because I was her bridesmaid – but to get there I had to navigate the sewers by boat to get there, because that’s where she was holding it! I suggest that Co-Op’s garlic soft cheese roulade is yummy, but best not consumed after 9pm if you don’t want to get the crazy dreams!

ANGEL – Angel / star of the week for me are the lovely people who will have been in to Dogs Trust, RSPCA and other dogs homes in the last few days to rescue and give good homes to little puppies gifted at Christmas and already dumped. It’s astounding – and sad – how much this still happens… They’re for life!

YUCK – Yeah, my attempt at home made stroganoff did not go so well this week. It wasn’t awful, but it really wasn’t good!

TGIF Look Back – 6th September

Welcome to TGIF Look Back it just takes a few minutes: to play along, just answer the following questions with some Friday feeling…do one or all, whatever you feel like because it’s Friday 🙂

FUNNY – What made you laugh this week?

READING – What were you reading this week?

INSPIRED – What inspired you this week?

DONE – What were you mainly doing this week?

ANGEL – Who was your angel/star of the week?

YUCK – What made you go ‘ewwww’ this week?

My TGIF Look Back…

As I’ve not done one of these in ooh, over a year, I thought it was about time I did another – not that I’ve had a particularly thrilling week, or anything 😛

FUNNY – Re-runs of Cougar Town – you gotta love ‘Penny-Can’ 🙂

READING – I’m doing a final re-read and edit of RMT, following receipt of the first reviews from the ARCs. The feedback has been really helpful in determining what parts stay and which go, before the final version goes out. I’m starting to realise that one of the hardest thing about being in Balik’s head is that I’ve already been there, in Cassie’s first – and pulling out his knowledge, without seeing hers all the time isn’t as straight forward as you might think.

INSPIRED – I finished watching a TV show called Jericho this week. I missed it when it aired originally back in 2006 – 2008, but have watched the two seasons back-to-back in the last month. The depth of the characters and the realistic portrayal of how ‘normal’ people deal with the aftermath of a nuclear attack was really gripping. If you’ve never seen it, I’d recommend adding it to your Lovefilm list – it’s certainly got me back in the mood for finishing Outlanders, once RMT is finalised this month.

DONE – Editing and re-writes, with dash of ‘proper’ work.

TGIF Look Back – 15th June

Welcome to TGIF Look Back it just takes a few minutes: to play along, just answer the following questions with some Friday feeling…do one or all, whatever you feel like because it’s Friday 🙂

My TGIF Look Back…

So…what’s been happening this week in my world? Well, I’ve been trying to get through an editing read of an ARC of Underneath by the lovely Michael Cargill – really enjoyed the story and characters, as I have in his other writing, my only struggle was finding the time to get some peace and quiet to read! But have done now, so look out for a review on this in the near future when the book is launched.
I’m very busy at work at the moment and so my main ‘creative time’ comes when I’m driving around listening to music. I’ve built myself a ‘Balik playlist’ to help me stay focused whilst I’m finishingThe Rainbow Maker’s Taleand that seems to be helping – I make lots of random little notes for myself as snippets of dialouge or impressions of scenes come to me.
My other blog – Aside from Writing – is doing well following the Indie Author Event in May: we’re busy scheduling lots of author posts and features for the summer months and two new reviewers – author Tony Talbot and blogger Stephanie Green – have now joined up to regularly provide content, which is working well. If you’ve not met them already, take a look and see what they’re reading! 🙂
That’s about it for me – I’m hoping to grab a few quiet hours for writing this weekend, so wish me luck!

READING – What were you reading this week?

ANGEL – Who was your angel/star of the week?

YUCK – What made you go ‘ewwww’ this week?

My TGIF Look Back…

FUNNY – Hmmm… not much I can actually put on here in detail without getting in trouble, but although it’s been busy at work this week I’m appreciating working with some lovely people who help make the day go faster 😀 FM!

READING – I’m nearly done with Zed by Stephen Herfst and my ‘Friday Find’ for the week is Being Human by Patricia Lynne, which I’ll be reading soon. Next book on my TBR list is Last Stop This Town by David Steinberg. If you’ve not taken a look at the Indie Author Event on Aside from Writing yet, head over as you could win copies of all these books on the blog!

INSPIRED – I’ve been good this week and got caught up on some blog posting for Aside from Writing; some really interesting posts coming up in June from what I’ve seen.

DOING – It’s been work again this week I’m afraid – but with a long weekend to look forward to I might get sorted with some editing! Oh joy…

ANGEL – Two for me this week Tony and Stephanie – the lovely peeps who are joining the blog team over at Aside from Writing – looking forward to working with you guys and seeing more of your stuff 🙂

YUCK – Seagulls are big birds, but it still amazes me how giant their poops are…just wish they wouldn’t ‘amaze’ all over my car while I’m parked at work.

TGIF Look Back – 27th April

Welcome to TGIF Look Back it just takes a few minutes: to play along, just answer the following questions with some Friday feeling…do one or all, whatever you feel like because it’s Friday 🙂

My TGIF Look Back…

FUNNY – This is such an old gag but the ‘funny airport announcements’ still make me giggle – If you’ve never come across this and are daft like me then you might enjoy this prank 🙂 CLICK HERE

READING – I read Shades of Grey by Michael Cargill this week – review posted on the blog yesterday – a really good read!

INSPIRED – I’m still trying to gear myself up for ‘proper’ writing, but have been very busy at work and on blog stuff that it has lapsed a little. Must try harder!

DOING – This week has mainly been work, work, work – but not of the literary variety, just the one that actually pays the bills. At least it’s interesting though.

ANGEL – My other half has been particularly lovely this week and played ‘Jamie Oliver’ in the kitchen several nights this week, so it meant I had real food when I made it home for dinner instead of just Frosties.

YUCK – Dogs that eat grass – if you’re a dog owner and have experienced the aftermath of your doggie acting like a cow then you know exactly what I was dealing with at 6.00am this morning. I was not impressed with the chocolate doggy!

My TGIF Look Back…

FUNNY – Saw some good, random book parodies this week from songs to posters and films – there are plenty around for the biggest bestsellers – take a look at the Goodreads thread that gave me plenty to giggle at this week 🙂

READING – Kindle died at the weekend and so while I waited for the lovely people at Amazon to send me a replacement I’ve been reading ‘real’ books – restarted The Passage by Justin Cronin this week. I WILL finish it this time!

INSPIRED – Finalising the big blog event for next month at Aside from Writing – phew! nearly done. Writing wise it’s been mainly blog posts and promo stuff, not work on the books.

DOING – Looking forward to a relaxing weekend! Very busy week at work and so looking forward to stepping away from the computer and doing something else.

ANGEL – The nice guy at Amazon who sent me a new Kindle when the screen broke on mine!

YUCK – Simon Cowell’s unauthorised biography confessions – not that I care, but I’d rather not be bombarded with it on breakfast radio as I eat my banana! I don’t want to know about his hankering after Cheryl Cole or anyone else for that matter. However, the picture of him with his eighties mullet hair was pretty good, when I saw the same story in the Metro.

My TGIF Look Back…

FUNNY – Discovered a new blog this week courtesy of one of my regular visits to Michael Cargill’s Blog. Maid in Yorkshire’s Blog about the ‘lighter side of parenting’ is hilarious 🙂 don’t think I’ve ever seen posts on hamsters, porn and life with kids in one place before!

READING – I’m still on with Shadowland by CM Gray this week, but haven’t been able to squeeze in much reading with everything else that’s happening.

INSPIRED – Have felt quite inspired for writing this week and been sorting out some planning and plot issues in my head before getting down to writing them. Quite a few ideas for one-shots in Outlanders and Islanders have come to me this week – so they’re noted down now, just waiting to be written.

DOING – A lot of time this week spent on finalising the Indie Author Month work on Aside from Writing and then beginning the difficult task of promotion. If you have a blog and wish to help, please swing by the blog to grab a button 🙂

ANGEL – Angel / stars of the week for me are all of the lovely authors and bloggers who are taking part and supporting the Indie Author Month. It’s quite a lot of work putting something like that together and so when people are happy to help you out it makes you smile 🙂

YUCK – In the odd glimpses of sunshine we saw this week – men baring a little too much flesh in the hopes of getting a man-tan…why do I not get hunky blokes congregating outside my office window?
